Well, you can tell that I have returned replenished from my holiday because I'm feeling extremly efficient and have been *getting things done*. So far, I have

* Bought new batteries for the scale (previously procrastinated about for about 2 months)
* Payed in cheque (no previous procrastincation)
* Got change of address/signatories form for Brownies bank account (p.p. 4 months)
* Bought folder to display A4 comic strips bought at Caption auctions (p.p. 1 month)
* Bought notebook for drawing house plans in (no p.p.)
* Booked haircut (although I've just realised that it's for Thurs so don't know if I'll make it to the farmers market or not) (p.p. 2 months)
* Reported problem with work email account that I've been working around (p.p. 2 weeks)
* Bought decent mp3 player for treo (as opposed to RealPlayer, which comes with it) (no p.p.)

I have also been back to Weightwatchers and am tracking my meals again and feeling motivated about doing the diet thing once more. I still need good lunch plans though. How long does pasta salad keep if I make it up in advance? I seem to be aquiring a busy schedule again pretty much straight off, what with sudden plans for work punting tomorrow (not sure what I'm going to do about that food wise) and Mark's gig on Sunday (what time is that, Mark?) so who knows how long this energised mood will last for?

There's the KTB gig at the Zodiac on Thursday, too ...

I can't decide whether to go to that or to go into London for the tun.

If you decide to come to Oxford I could let you have the Kate Atkinson book, if you let me know in time to bring it with me tomorrow morning and are going to be here reasonably early in the evening...

Reported problem with work email account

Surely they will never fix the problem of them sending you things to do via email?!!!

Home-made pasta salad should keep for a couple of days in the fridge at least, maybe longer - depends in part what's in it, of course. If you made a big bowl on a Sunday you'd definitely have Monday and Tuesday's lunches, and possibly Wednesday's as well.

Have you thought of trying couscous? It only needs a couple of minutes' soaking, you could practically do it while you're eating breakfast...

I'm wary of couscous - I have a childhood aversion to granular foods (like rice, food processed nuts in nut roasts etc). This has receded in recent years but I think that I should probably start off with other peoples couscous to find out what works well with it and things.

Why does everyone I know seem to have weird food phobias? ;-p

I can certainly give you tips on couscous, as I use it lots...

Do you know any good polenta recipes as well? For a while I used to make spagetti bolognaise but subsituting the spagetti for polenta...

Unfortunately, I don't; I have a good recipe for cornmeal pancakes which uses polenta, and which has led to my having about 450g of a half-kilo bag of the stuff sitting in the cupboard, so I need to find a use for it myself. The sloppy version of cooked polenta really doesn't appeal, but I keep meaning to try the grilled variant. And there was a nice-sounding recipe in the Observer a few weeks ago for an orange and polenta cake which I may try sometime.
