On, I think, Wednesday afternoon, I decided I needed to escape the aircon and get a breath of fresh air. The sunny day this week anyway. Perhaps it was yesterday and it just feels longer ago. I went outside and sat in the sun on the bank of the stream that runs between the two parts of our building. I even considered dabbling my toes in but on balance refrained.

Today, the place where I sat and indeed most of the path on that side of the stream are under water. I stood on the covered bridge between the buildings watching 3 young ducks trying gamely to make their way against the current. As long as they don't close the roads on my route home it should be fine but it is putting a dampner on my enthusism for leaving the house this evening!

I am hoping that this will get all the rain out of the way and the weekend will therefore be lovely and sunny, but I have to admit that so far the weather forcast sites are not bearing out this optimistic view. Perhaps I have inadvertantly become a festival rain god of some sort. If so, sorry, guys! Fortunatly, I have a better jacket to replace my slightly leaky around the hood seams poncho (a flaw unfortunatly discovered while at Glastonbury, not before) so I should be able to withstand but it would have been nice to be able to bask.

I see that the Truck lineup is up (you have to click on the guy with the sign board in the middle of the page - lame, I know). Most of the regulars are there, although no sign of Fell City Girl this year, to my disappointment - I always like my late afternoon FCG. Still, looks like fun. I haven't been to a lot of gigs this year so there's quite a few names here I only recognise from other people's reviews. I feel sure I do know Idlewild, although I can't bring any of their songs to mind right now.

My plans for this weekend include a BBQ and a picnic. Looking at the forcast, I somehow doubt that I'm going to manage that! Actually, with the remains of the post Glastonbury cold still clinging on, I'm considering just staying at home - I don't think I could face being stuck at Didcot with the railway lines flooded out and given how suceptible our public transport is to that kind of stuff, I just don't have the energy. I guess I'll see how I feel tomorrow - this has been receding so maybe I'll be more energetic tomorrow.

I'll need to be if we're going out because the house is in a bit of a state. Drying washing and tent as well as piles of to be washed and books and all the other various bits of our luggage spread across the place! And on top of that there is my course books and all the post I haven't processed yet - I got back from Glastonbury to find that I have 20 credit points from my first two courses! I was amazed that it took as long to mark my sociology course as it did for me to take and then have marked my science course! Hopefully my history exam (arg!) when I get it won't be anything like long to wait. I also got the sample paper in the post but I'm trying not to read the notes so that I can try to do the questions under timed conditions and then read over the notes and see where I need more work. Once I've got my slavery essay out of the way, that is.

I wish they'd just hurry up and publish the Glastonbury lineup already! According to Q it's not due out until June 1 but if the rumour sites are to be believed it's going to be awesome. I'm trying not to get too excited (not least because it's still 2 and a half months away) but looking at that lot, it's hard not to. Bellowhead! The Pippettes! The Killers! Iggy & The Stooges! Bootleg Beatles! Seth Lakeman! Fat Boy Slim! I guess even if only half of them actually are on the programme it'll be pretty awesome - I just hope the good ones are not during my shift!

I've also been obsessively hunting up rumours on the Q1 Ultra and it looks like it's going to be released in May with proper spec details being published tomorrow if I'm reading the comments correctly. Combining that with the strong pound right now I may just possibly manage to get a bargain while I'm in the States next month.

Phew!

Well, thanks to the stalwart help of [livejournal.com profile] oxfordslacker, [livejournal.com profile] timscience and [livejournal.com profile] damiancugley I have got tickets for everyone I promised in my previous post. Due to lack of forward planning on my part those are the only people I have got tickets for - if I'd remembered to get cash out before setting off I could have got more but they sold out while we were getting to the Tesco cash point and back! That is now IT for Oxford tickets, although there are some in other bits of Oxfordshire (see this is Truck). Also none of the online tix have gone on sale yet so it's possible that more will become available. I've signed up for the mailing list just in case, as Jenni tells me the advanced tix haven't been announced on that yet...

Edit Online tix are now on - does anyone need any more?

Fancy live-blogging Glastonbury? Then the BBC want to hear from you - they're signing people up on their Glastonbury site right now. I just like the idea of them lending me a smart phone for the week (and, hopefully, somewhere to charge it up or a lot of spare batteries!) but hey, I've got my post per day to keep up so I'll be getting online somehow anyway - I wonder if there's wireless networking on site :) I guess now that there's a UK phone posting number set up I can always just treat you to 5 mins of music any time the whim strikes me!

Truck tickets go on sale 10 April online and in real shops - Fopp is the Oxford outlet this year. If you want me to get festival tickets for you (or, actually, dispatch Alex to get said tickets on his lunchtime on Tuesday), comment to this post before then!

Oh no! Glastonbury in doubt again. Seems like they'll either have to go commercial (kill Glastonbury) or kill Glastonbury :(
