Really, now that I've got the
pocketlj client I should write these bit by bit, closer to the time. I still baulk at writing long stretches of graffiti though - I may too many "typos" (I suddenly wonder where that comes from. What would be the equivalent for graffiti?) and it just gets a little awkward after a while. I guess I'm also usually doing it in a situation where I have nowhere to rest my arms/wrists - writing on a notepad when you've only got your other hand to support it becomes tiring after a while too. Anyway...
Friday: Got out of office at last and headed off to meet Becks at Cutty Sark. As always, journey takes slightly longer than I'm expecting and I am only just in time. Have nice chat while wandering to theatre. Becks has been v. busy - recent promotion at work (unfortunately, the kind where they give you more responsibility but not yet more money or a new title or anything like that) meaning that she's doing a lot of new stuff. She seems quite perky though and we have a nice chat. Meet
smithi1. V unnerving - he looks younger than I expected and is an actual person and stuff! Jeremy Hardy comes on. He's great, although not quite as good as the seminal gig in Norwich which was an utter blinder. He seems to have become more bitter - the accession of a Labour govt which is worse than the Tories seems to have hit him hard :) Still, there's some great stuff - I particularly like the stuff about liberals on marches - PLEASE STOP THE INSANITY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE - and there's some good stuff on capitalism as well. I am a little concerned about Becks - she is, after all, a self confessed capitalist whore - but she seems to find it all as funny as I do. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons I like her. I make it home and call Alex who comes round and hugs me all night :)
Saturday: Lie in. Mmmmm. Listen to rain on the windows. I must write to my landlord and ask him to do something about the chimneys - the rain comes down the one in my room and drips annoyingly and the living room fireplace blows a gale if not fully covered. Drag selves up. Alex goes to have what turns out to be an extremely long bath. I potter around the house and manage to do all the tidying bar the washing up and the hoovering - score! I check my credit card bill and am pleased to see that I have again managed to write it all down and so do not have horrible shock when looking at the total. Discover that I am the best friend of the Phoenix Picture House*. Organise going to party. Go to Indian takeout. Wait 1/2 hour for food (Aziz - v posh looking, shit service, food OK but not good enough to make up). Get to
cleanskies. Bolt food. Get in car. Go to Mark Charlesly's (sp?) party. Drink wine, chat, watch baby Nathaniel make cute faces, eat special cake, chat more. Become confused and tired. Slump on Alex. Feel a bit better. Grab chair and chat more. Watch a bit of Munchkin (it's like a Cheapass Game but more expensive!). Go to bed on floor with Alex.
Sunday: Discover that sleeping on the floor is a bad idea. Have lost all movement in my neck :( Cups of tea and massage from Alex. Neck tension significantly reduced - he is lovely :) Still feeling tired and slow though. Go for lunch in pub. Order apple crumble for pudding - arrives in enormous bowl. Cannot finish. Go home in Adrian’s car. Bath :) Watch TV but nothing good on (boo!) Early night.
* When I went to see Porco Rossi last weekend I bought Friendship of the Phoenix. This gave me 3 free tickets, one of which I used for the film, a membership card for future tickets and a wine voucher for the bar. However, when they processed my address and stuff for sending me programs they seem to automatically have sent me another collection of the same! So now I have 5 free tickets! They sure do like me lots :)

pocket_lj any good then?
Date: January 28th, 2002 08:08 am (UTC)From:Know what you mean about not wanting to graffiti too much in one lump, by the way. I have a utility called TextPlus which I find to be a great help -- means it suggests words as you write, and it can save a number of strokes. Still a bit of a pain though.
