John Peel RIP

Only on Saturday, I was listening to David Stafford do Home Truths and thinking "What would they do if John was gone for good? No-one else quite has it." I feel genuinely sad in the way that I can't ever remember feeling about a public figure. Home Truths made John feel like a friend to me, in a way. Perhaps I'll email the programme - I expect next week will be nothing but tributes.

That's weird - I thought it was John on Saturday, 'cos he definitely said it'd be someone else doing it this weekend 'cos he was on holiday. Maybe I'm imagining things though.

I wouldn't be too surprised if Home Truths dies with him/in the near future:-(

Much as I absolutely adore Home Truths, I kind of hope that they do end the series. I know he had holiday stand-ins, but it just wouldn't be the same - it would be like continuing on with Letter to America after the death of Alistair Cook.

I'm just glad in a way that his wife was with him - its the kids you have to feel sorry for :(

Yeah - 'State of the Union' isn't bad but nothing could replace Letter from America. I don't see how Home Truths could work without him long term.

And yep, I do feel particularly sorry for his kids:-(
