Cassie's injections have finally arrived at the vet so I'm going over there this evening to learn how to give them. Poor love. I may even make it to the OUSFG video meeting - I'm giving it about 50/50 at this point. It does sound tempting, but then so does a night in...

Hi tinyjo, I'm not an LJ user but was reading some friends journals and saw your posting ...

I had to learn to give my dog injections (twice a day) when he became diabetic. I hate needles myself so the thought of having to give him two each and every day was hard. But it became routine after a few weeks ... he was good about it and seemed to know that I was helping him (and that he got a treat after!). As soon as I sat on the floor by him and reached for his neck (I had to do the injections alternating each side of his neck) he would freeze and wouldn't move until I patted his head.

The things we have to do for our "babies"!!

Good luck - I have not got any experience with cats ... hopefully Cassie will as good as my dog was about the whole thing.

I'm hoping she won't be too bad - she's very good when she has to have her flea stuff put on and so on. On the other hand, the way this treatment works is to flood her system with the stuff she's allergic to so that her immune system will eventually give up and back off on it. So for a couple of weeks it'll make her worse rather than better - I just have to hope she doesn't twig the connection until too late.
