Got things off to a bad start on Friday night by managing to get on the wrong train! Apparently there where two trains to Guildford and I wanted the one on the other side of the platform. Sigh. Half an hour wait on a cold deserted station platform later I was back on the way to Epsom. When I finally made it there, I actually quite enjoyed the reception. I don't know my cousins that well - we only used to meet about once a year - but they made me feel really welcome and the whole thing was very friendly. My aunts were disappointed that Alex hadn't made it, saying perhaps they'd meet him at my wedding! Bless. Then long sleepy drive home with my parents to Norfolk.

Lie in on Saturday morning (even Dad didn't get up until about 10am which is practically unheard of) then off to do some shopping! I'm not buying myself any more clothes for the moment but I did stock up on M&S bras and bought myself a pair of trainers (in case I decide to do any exercise) and some grown up cutlery from John Lewis. It's so expensive! I guess the idea is that you don't have to buy it very often but still. Who wants to come round and eat dinner with my £5 forks?

Then, after a pause for breath, it was off to Tatlers for birthday dinner. Pretty pricey buy really bloody good food. I had duck leg with aubergine marmalade for starter and steak with red wine and mushroom sauce followed by cheese and port. Mmmmm. Much enjoyed by all and well worth it if you can afford it.

Sunday Mum and I popped over to the pet shop to buy a few treats for Cassie and a carrier that we can dump her in from the top easily then over to Jill and Grahams to see Calum. He's getting quite big now - he's very perky and busy although he is used to getting his own way! Nice chat to Jill and Graham followed by lunch then off to the station to get home. Dad caught up with us there to say goodbye and I was off.

During my absence, Alex had taken Cassie to the vets to have her stitches taken out so what with that and having been on her own most of the weekend she was really pleased to see me. Alex came over and I whipped up some pasta for us before we wandered over to [livejournal.com profile] cleanskies to help finish up the wine she'd been left by an ex-housemate a while back. As most of it was past it's best before date we were expecting most of it to be a bit shit and it was. We poured quite a bit straight down the sink but did find a few bottles to drink and passed the time playing Chez Dork which was pretty good fun if not quite as much a reflection of our social group as Chez Geek.

Monday was much laying in (mmmm, bed with Alex). After a while we decided to get up and keep Cassie company downstairs. Got up in dressing gowns and sat on sofa covered by blanket to keep toes warm. Unfortunately, Cassie was in a pouncey mood and kept going for the movements under the blanket which got Alex's toes rather punished! She did look really cute though. After lunch we wandered over to the fair thing in South Park. It was OK if something of a strange mixture. There was the tombola for grown-ups (win some tupperware!) and a few plant stalls and lots of charity ones then hippy clothing stalls, then the music tents (v loud) then further up the hill a proper fun fair. Everyone refused to come on the swirly rides with me (boo!) but Alex did win me a penguin :) In the end, it was rather too chilly to be enjoyable and we all headed back to my place for a cup of tea which was something of a surprise for Cassie! She seemed to cope pretty well though and after that we just sat and watched Enterprise (boring) before Alex headed off, leaving me to weep into my pillow.
