So, I asked for some questions from [livejournal.com profile] snowking and then promptly let them sit in my inbox :) I do love the interview meme though so if anyone else wants questions or wants to ask me questions, go for it!

1. What do you think the future holds for LJ?

Yikes! You would think that I'd have an idea about this given my volunteering but actually, I haven't really thought about it for a while! I know some specific projects that are on the horizon but I don't think I'm allowed to talk about those :) Better safe than sorry, anyway! Anyway, all of the following is from a position of NO KNOWLEDGE, just my vague speculations.

In terms of broad generalities, it kind of depends on how the regulatory regime develops in the states - as long as LJ is held responsible for what it's users post then I can see more stuff like content hosting (e.g. music?) being a possible expansion, and possibly LJ trying to branch out into more areas, like calendaring or event organisation/management. I'm not sure I see openSocial as a big thing for LJ - I think of it as more an app than a platform, ala facebook but probably more LJ apps to go on other sites, again ala facebook might be a possibility.

2. Do you see yourself ever leaving Oxford?

Possibly but only really if teleporters get invented. The reason I love Oxford over and above the place itself is the people I hang with here, who are all awesome. That and the convenience of being able to bike to things like the pub and the cinema (I still haven't got over that!). However, I do miss the country and the sea so if there was a way I could have all those (and Alex could be persuaded) then I would potentially be up for it but as I say, the only way I can think of is teleporters :)

On a slightly more serious note, the thing that seems more likely to me is that as our parents get older we may end up having to consider moving closer to them or moving them closer to us so there is a chance we would have to leave but in that case I think we would come back eventually.

3. What's your favourite way to treat yourself?

Bottle of wine, good cheddar, salt & vinegar pringles, salsa, tesco healthy living dips. Something lazy on TV like a Midsomer Murder and if possible, Alex sitting around next to me for hugs.

A close second is a meal in a really nice restaurant but that's not quite so relaxing so it depends if I'm in an energetic or lazy mood.

4. What's so great about the g in background?

Heh :) The *interesting* thing about the g in background is how many people don't remember to include it when they submit a support request asking for pictures of Justin Timberlake all over their journal :) A bunch of us doing styles support added it as an interest as a kind of solidarity of people who don't think that the internet means you don't have to spell properly (and I know I don't always manage, but at least I try :)). Which is great in it's own way, I suppose :)

5. What are your top 5 movies?

1) A Few Good Men - I am a sucker for the oratory in this.
2) Clueless - nearly guarenteed to improve my mood
3) Josie and the Pussycats - ditto
4) Hotel Rwanda - the opposite, but very very powerful. Makes me cry.
5) The Prestige - I just love how this all fits together. I didn't know the story when I first saw the film and the reveals worked perfectly.

Hey, the fact that you even bother to try puts you way, way ahead of the game. ;) Making the occasional typo or misspelling is a far cry from just typing out everything that comes to mind without spellchecking it. ;) I can't tell you how painful it is for me to try to read short messages/posts (I'm talking about one-sentence or one-paragraph-long things) from someone who can't be assed to give it the once-over. =P Although, "backround" and some other unintentional misspellings make me smirk if they can be read in a... certain way. ;)

And, er, yes, go ahead and ask away if you wish. =)
