Watched Federer win the Aussie Open this morning. He is just awesome. There's no other word. They were already talking about whether he could do the Grand Slam this year and it doesn't seem crazy. It all hnags on the French, of course, but still, I can see it.

It feels so lucky to be interested in the sport now, when a man who is definitely going to go down in history as one of the best players of the game ever is making history. Some of these matches are things they're going to show in rain breaks for years. I really really really hope that I get to see him live one day and thats not beyond the realm of possibility. There are still records to be broken, although fewer and fewer.

I think Nadal will be even better than Federer. You watch him as he gets a bit older...

I hope so. I don't think it's good for a sport to be dominated by one person or team. No matter how awesome the display of skill, one-sided matches are not much fun to watch.

There is a vague chance the same thing will happen in the football, what with Chelsea having a million times more money than anyone else, but it doesn't seem to have happened so far.

Which always used to be the complaint in Sampras' day too. Actually I still quite enjoy one sided Federer matches at the moment because of the awesome shot making, particularly when you're watching him do it against some one you know is also pretty hot stuff like Roddick but I agree this may wear out quickly :) Nadal & Federer were in 2 of the last 4 grand slam finals together so we might get an interesting rivalry, particularly because Nadal is strong where Federer is weak - on the clay.

I don't know, although I was majorly impressed by his attitude to attacking the grass last year. It's true he's got plenty of time - he's more Murray's age than Federers really. I guess I just find it hard to picture actually better than Federer, although I could see an equally matched clash of the Titans type rivalry developing...
