Had a really really good skating session today. No one there at all for about 20 mins and then 2 beginners crawling round the edge and two girls doing circles and going backwards with their legs in the air in the middle. I got to skate in figure of eights, which is much better because it exercises both legs more equally, and I practiced my backwards skating. It's very slow and beginner-ish, but I'm getting there :)

I taught skating here...I have a few pointers

Bravo on learning to skate. You'll find as time goes along that not only skating can actually be learned, it can be mastered by one and subsequently release copious endorphin brain bathes which may resurface in subconscious rapid-eye movement stasis. You'll dream it. If you don't skate for a while, you'll have a dream that will remind you to requench that endorphin bottleneck in the nostalgic confines of those precious few synapses with "skating" or "hockey" written on them.

I used to teach skating. I don't miss teaching. But I miss skating once in awhile. Thankfully, my brain reminds itself,

Enjoyed your website. I read "The Last Question" for the first time on your net-nook tonight. I'll be back to search the other crannies.
