Yeah, I cancelled my Amazon instant video trial when I discovered it wasn't supported on my Roku box. I had thought to try it out instead of Netflix, but I guess Netflix won that one before they even started. That Amazon deliberately break it on non-Amazon tablets just adds insult.
However, your post prompted me to try another workaround. As you mention, Amazon do provide an Android phone app, which seemed to work OK (even if you can't get it from the Google play store, which makes one a little suspicious). You need both the Amazon store and video apps. I thought I might try transferring the apps from my phone to tablet (Nexus 7 2012), but found them on the web: http://the-digital-reader.com/nates-reviews/stream-amazon-instant-videos-android-tablet/#toc-0 . I used "the official way", where their unofficial way is a more clumsy way to do what you did with flashfox.
That seemed to work fine, and now I can stream Amazon videos to my tablet, at least as long as my trial lasts (it seems even if you cancel, you still have access until the end of the trial). I guess that's rather easier to use than the browser+Flash method you use, but maybe this doesn't work on your tablet? Still, this won't work for my Roku, and I don't really want to watch much on my tablet, so this isn't really a long-term solution for me.
An interesting moral/economic question is whether watching the video on Amazon prime (paid or as a trial) can legitimise (morally, certainly not legally) getting the torrent to watch on my Roku? Does it depend on how Amazon pays the movie producers?
