I've been sorely tempted by an actual Kindle, but have mainly been put off by the whole DRM thing. I did some research and found the un-DRM programs, so maybe I'll be OK (from what I read, the new PC application stops one method working, but the other one still does).
I've started to try the Kindle app on my old Android phone (the Hero), but the screen is too small for concerted reading. It might be better on your Desire's bigger screen. I'm almost certainly going to be upgrading to one of the Desire line (waiting for the new ones to come out to see how they compare in the hand).
