I had a spate of disappearing/non forwarded email towards the start of the year so if you sent me something I didn't reply to then you might want to re-send it. Sigh. I'm really starting to think about moving to another web hosting provider. Although as I paid my renewal in December, not just yet!

I was taken aback to realise that my OU course has actual physical tutorials! It never occured to me to check that, although it does say so right there on the course website. Fortunatly, my tutor gives hers at Oxford Brookes. Unfortunatly, the second one is the day after my brothers wedding reception so unless I arrange to go to one in Norfolk then it looks like I'm missing that. Still, they're not compulsory, so it's not the end of the world.

I've done the first few bits and I'm finding that I don't seem to fasten on to the same bits of the documents as the specimin answers to the exercises seem to suggest. I'm not sure if that means I'm not doing it right or just that I'm bringing an equally valid perspective. We shall see. I'm also having trouble getting started on my final essay for Understanding Society - lack of inspiration. Still I have a tutorial before that has to go in so hopefully I'll get some help there.

Which mail server are you on? I had a problem with my email late last year, but I transferred it over to new webserver and it's been working fine since then. Also ask to go onto the MailFoundry trial if you want to virtually elliminate spam from your mailbox. :-)

OU C. School's tutorials

It's rather a nice place to have tutorials, but it also depends on the tutors, one year I had a good tutor and the following year I had a tutor who didn't like to teach at all (he isn't on the course you're doing so you're fine). As you rightly pointed out, it's NOT mandatory to attend, but when it gets near the exam, it's better to go if you can. You can also choose to go to tutorials which are held elsewhere if not practical for you.

Also, there's a pub meet once every month for OX OU students (check the OUSA OxAbing (not sure of the name) on the OUSA Signpost list.

Mine are in Oxford Brooke apparently, and they're all Saturday morning so it should be no problem for most of them, I hope.

The School I am refering to is a building next to the main entrance of Brookes, also on Saturday mornings. I suppose it's the same one.
