A Book: Choosing arbitrarily from those on my bed right now: Stephen Spender, The Temple. Spender is better known as a poet; this novel is thinly disguised autobiographical journey theough Weimar Germany.
A Film: Disney’s Atlantis (2001) (http://us.imdb.com/Details?0230011). Lots of 1914-esque science-romance technology and flying blue fish vehicles... I think this is still doing matinées at George St.

How about Joe Phillips (http://joephillips.com/) He used to draw comics for DC (like Superboy) but now specializes in drawing variously-undressed young men for people who like that sort of thing.
