Does anyone know any webmail setups which have good interfaces, are fairly secure, have spam filters and are not gmail?

I can't tell if you mean "service which provides e-mail", or "piece of software you can download and install on your mail server which provides webmail". I know lots for the latter, and none for the former. :)

I'm mostly thinking of the latter but as a web 2.0 app rather than a downloaded one.

Hmmm, well, I've used Horde (http://www.horde.org/imp/) with good success. Plus, mendel worked on it way back in the day. ;)
