Well, I am happy to report that I have passed my Network Infrastructure exam! Got 800 this time which was more than enough (need 620 out of 1000 to pass). Go on - ask me a question about DNS and watch me ignore it :)
So - to summarize my weekend for you...
Fri night: Alex's work party - cold but nice.
Sat night: Alistairs dinner - lovely food, drink, company. Me appointed Mikes surrogate girlfriend.
Sun: nothing :)
As you can imagine this was a pretty good start to a weekend. Got home in plenty of time to make myself beautiful for Alex's work do. I need to make an effort to loose some weight - my lovely sheer black dress with gold straps clings rather too much to my lumps to be worn :( Still, did manage to look pretty good in my other party dress, it's just that I really like that one. The party was pretty good except for one small problem. It was being held in a barn with attached marquee on the coldest night of the year so far :( Even with the space heaters going at full blast it never quite got as far as relaxing warm. Still, had a nice meal and some good company. Ended up spending most of the time after dinner just chatting with Alex about various things though as the disco, while quite good (not an Xmas number one in sight) didn't quite tempt us to dance. Managed to time it pretty well in that I crashed out just at the end. Bus back to Oxford and straight to bed - with Alex :)
Managed to have pretty much an ideal Saturday. Having done the vestiges of my Xmas shopping on Friday I didn't have to get up at all til the evening so Alex and I just stayed in bed, hugging and listening to the radio and having picnic lunch in bed til it was time to get up and make ourselves beautiful for the OUSFG alumni (Hamster Botherers) dinner in Alistairs London club (v. posh eh). Met up with the guys and managed to get on the bus to London and from there to the club without incident or having to walk very far which was good in my shoes. Champagne reception to start was one of those things where you only ever have one glass of champagne which is continually at least half full - very dangerous :) I found it vaguely unnerving that we were being waited on by a wizened old lady at least as old as my Nan - I kept feeling that I should be getting her to sit down and doing it for her. The dinner was excellent and Alistair had cunningly managed to fill my table with people that I like lots so that was good. And I have been appointed Mikes surrogate girlfriend after sorting out his bow tie for him :) Lots of wine and lots of port later I burnt Sonia's name card (although it wouldn't take very well) and once again managed to crash just as things wound up. Perfect.
On Sunday I decided to celebrate the fact that I've nearly finished my Christmas shopping by doing nothing all day except wrapping up said pressies and pottering around the house. Lovely :) Although despite the fact that he was going out and I wasn't, Alex still made me get up first! Cheeky bugger :)
And now I only have 5 days until I go home for Christmas :)
