I've decided that this summer, I'd like to get my legs waxed. I've tried using the strips they sell in Boots and not got anywhere so I'm going to go the whole hog and get it done professionally. This brings up 2 questions: 1) where's a good place in Oxford for a leg wax? and 2) how long to I have to grow the hair before I get it done?

I get mine done at the Beauty Salon (it says so here) on Little Clarendon Street, though I've also had it done at Debenham's before (the hairdresser's has a beauty salon attached IIRC). The price is approx £10 - £13 for a half-leg wax, so not dissimilar to a manicure.

The place I go to is called Odessey (ugh!) and the phone no is 557060.

I've never got anything other than a half leg wax so don't know what it's like for a full leg. I mean, pain-wise. The half-leg is ouchie but bearable. The key is for someone else to pull it, I feel...

Some of my friends get the Babyliss electrical personal beauty stuff from places like Boots -- ie little leg-hair-puller-outers that you run up & down your legs like an electric razor, only not exactly. I think your hairs don't have to be all that long for that. Sounds yucky to me though...

Thanks - I'll give it a try I think. How long does it normally last for?

I asked when I last went to get my legs done

and she said about 4 weeks. Don't get it done as regularly as every 3 weeks as it might not do your legs much good.
