They've now got the exchange of invite codes for coupons set up over in [livejournal.com profile] lj_biz. Between the various accounts that I control, I've managed to generate $27.25. I'm going to use $5 of it for giving [livejournal.com profile] caption a paid account so I can give it a custom style, but I don't really have any plans for the rest of it, so I thought I'd throw it open. Free users on my friends list, would you like 2 months of paid time, so you can try out the features, create your own custom style, whatever? I have to spend this all at once, so if you want it, comment here and when I've got four I'll toddle over to the shop and cash in the coupons. When it runs out, you get to keep any styles you create, but can't fiddle with them anymore and some of your userpics go inactive if you've loaded up new ones - more details here.

Edit After reading the post which sparked [livejournal.com profile] truecatachresis' comment, I think that's a great idea, so I'm throwing this open. If you are planning to purchase something from LiveJournal (except a T-shirt) let me know. I will send you coupons/make the purchase for you (whichever is most coupon-efficient) if you will give the cash value to a charity that I like.

How about doing the LiveJournal random search, and the first Free User you come up against, give them a month of paid time - anonymously? :)

I'm sure I can find plenty of deserving people before resorting to that!

Or you could follow the example in this post and effectively donate the coupons to charity.

That's a pretty neat idea actually, but he's already reached his goal. I wonder if anyone else is doing one...

I know he's reached his goal, but you could do it. You have enough cash for a year, so find someone who's looking to buy a year's paid account anyway, and get them to donate to charity instead. There's sure to be someone on your friend's list who wants a full account and hasn't yet got a permanent account, surely?

Well, I've edited the post, so we'll see if anyone comes to claim them...

what amuses me is that if I'd generated more codes for every month I'd had a paid account, I'd have - erm - more. I've used a fair few, but had intended to generate more as & when. But that's fine. It's only lj's way for reimbursing the aggrieved few.

Otherwise, though, it will be interesting to see what happens to lj overall. It seems an odd move - tv adverts etc. I can't complain, though, I do like lj a lot.

Yeah, we permanent accounts have a hard time, don't we :) I have a bunch because of support, but I never generated many of my permanent account ones. On the other hand, I also don't have anything to spend the credit on, hence the offer, so I'm pretty satisfied, all things considered.

I do wonder what the TV ad is like though.
