Ok, so when I said yesterday that I had sorted out the cookies I was fibbing. It turns out that they only work if you access the page through a relative link but not for an absolute one. I have a vague suspicion that this might be to do with the fact that the domain for the test server is only one word - no dots - because it's internal. Hmmm. Basically, bugger.

I just had to put this up because they're soooo wrong!

I really need to move desks. I just had to sit here, eating my lunch while another employee sat down with the middle manager next to me and had a long complaint about how overworked he was and how under appreciated he felt - it was so embarrassing. I was eating and didn't want to have to gather up all my stuff and go and find somewhere else to sit, plus that would have embarrassed the employee, but I really didn't want to listen in to that.

Ok, this site - http://cmdrtaco.net/poemgen.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftinyjo.livejournal.com - generates a poem based on the webpage you give it and this site - http://momorgan.com/features/index.asp?feature=translate - gives you the results of translating your website into a foreign language and back again via Google. Somehow, the results seem vaguely similar to me :)

Hmm

Is it me, or are Americans scary? http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2002/1/27/123354/575

While on the subject, I really recommend http://www.kuro5hin.org/ - I'm finding it really interesting.

Well, I am now cool - it's official. Finally I can bask in the smug glow of having been the first to do something. Yes, the Philosophy magazine is now being discovered by the net community (see here and here) :) I can proudly announce that I sent this link via email ages ago (ah, if only I'd had a livejournal then :) ), already subscribe to the print version of the mag and playtested the Shakespeare vs Britney Spears game! I know that this is appalling boasting but it just makes me feel cool! My fave bits on the site are the Philosophical Health Check and the logic tests, possibly indicating that logic/consistency is very important to me (surprise, surprise). This was also indicated when I did the Morality play test and came out as basically believing that moral principles should be consistent across scale and geography. See - philosophy is cool after all :)

I decided that I needed a bit of fresh air so I went for a walk around the block. I got 1/2 way round (onto Rood Lane) when I came across a small (waist height) white plastic cart sitting on the pavement. On the cart were a pack of coke cans (one of those caterers things - about 24 cans in a card base covered in clear plastic) and a pack of diet coke cans! There was no-one near them, no delivery van - they weren't even by the entrance to a building. I noticed that the Coke pack had been started so I helped myself to one and wended my merry way on.
