I forced myself to read the whole thing, but despite 16 years (half a lifetime) of sticking contact lenses in my eyes and generally being totally cool with touching eyeballs and stuff, I really found myself cringing. This may seem weird but the bit that gets me is not being able to blink! I only have to try to hold my eye-lids open for more than a couple of seconds and my eyes insist on clamping shut with incredible force. How the hell could I last 40 seconds? I'd rip my eye-lids apart, I'm sure.
And, eww, flap cutting, eyeball pressure, blackness, not being able to move, eww, eww, eww.
