I spoke to the vet again on Tuesday - apparently they've already heard back from the lab. The diagnosis is feline eosinophilic granuloma complex - which doesn't mean a lot to me but seems to be more or less as I described before except that the link between the immune problems and the ulcers is not understood fully. But, as long as we can work out what she's allergic to (which is probably either something in her food or something that bit her) she should be fine. Thank god for pet insurance - that's all I can say.
