What were you doing in the Summer of....
1975?
1986?
1993?
1998?
2001?
In 1975 I existed merely in potentia - an egg and a sperm rushing around London inside a PA and an advertiser respectively and longing to get away from it all and move to the country.
In 1986 I was 7 years old. I expect I hung around with my brother in the garden for most of the summer. There may also have been recordings of Jo's radio show and a holiday in Northumbria or Cornwall or somewhere like that.
In 1993 I was 14. I have a feeling that this was the summer I did my DofE bronze expedition (in Wales). I probably also went to Guide camp and to Le Volet Jeunes (the yellow shutters) - a lovely cottage in good birding country in the Dordogne.
In 1998 I was 19. I'd just finished my first year at University and fallen in love. I don't actually remember visiting Alex that holiday but I kind of assume I must have done. I also worked at Superdrug most of the summer saving up for next term and went on the by now traditional holiday in France with the family.
In 2001 I was 22. I was still working in London but looking forward to making a move to Oxford and commuting down for pub nights on Tuesdays. I helped run Love is...
