I got home this evening to find election literature from the Tories, Labour, the Lib Dems and ... McDonalds. Seriously - it's a 16 page glossy leaflet in tall thin format about how super McDonalds is. I just don't think they'll get my vote though.

I might agree with their breakfast policies, but the rest of their manifesto is just popularist trash.

How do they respond do the Jamie Oliver school dinner challenge? Or are they ignoring it and hoping the issue will disappear?

I went to McDonalds the other week fot the first time in years. It was 11 o'clock, after badminton, I'd been locked out by my girlfriend (accidentally) and I was with my brother. I was pretty hungry and had a Quorn burger, donut and black coffee. My brother had a salad and a bag of fruit with a tea. The burger was sloppy, but ok. The coffee was excellent - better than Starbollocks. I think McDonalds would sell Entrecôte grilée with roasted onion and crème fraîche if there was a demand. Crap food succeeds due to poor education - which is in the interests of the government. Stupid people who spend flagrantly support the economy. Smarter people - and I believe people are generally getting smarter - will demand better quality. McDonalds, operating in a free market economy will comply. Conclusion: Don't blame the likes of McDonalds, blame government. The dullness of this posting is wholly attributable to the pile of election 2005 spam through my door. www.fruitscone.com
