Oh, and, good news everybody! Got letters in the post today saying that pending our cheques not bouncing, my referee not trashing me and me going to stewards training, we're in for Glastonbury! Anyone else going? We celebrated by going to the market at lunchtime where I bought a new bag to use for the festival.

Hopefully myself and [livejournal.com profile] darkpigeon will be there, providing we can obtain tickets. You and [livejournal.com profile] oxfordslacker both going then? x

Mud, tents, mud, lots of people. Did I mention the mud?

...oh, yes ... err ... music too, lots of music.

Glastonbury (http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/) is the biggest music festival in the UK, held nearly every year since the sixties. As well as loads of big and small name bands playing on about 5 stages, there are comedians, circus acts, drama, weddings, hippies by the bucket load (there's a whole section, called the Green Fields, full of crafts and hemp and stuff like that), drugs (in good and bad ways) and everything.

It's very popular indeed and tickets sell out normally on the day. There used to be lots of people who would just break in but these days they have terrifying security. It's quite expensive but Oxfam provides stewards for the event and you can volunteer for that. You get in free and you have to spend 3 shifts (mostly before/after) helping out directing cars or whatever. The rest of your time is your own so you get to enjoy the festival and have a warm glow from helping Oxfam :)
