You just can't rely on people to pick up the subtle signs you think you're broadcasting so if they're bugging you, say something. Do it politely, and be diplomatic but be honest.

Particularly as some of us out there aren't all that good at reading subtle nuances in speech and body language. It's not our fault. There are perfectly good reasons why we aren't good at it. It's not because we're thoughtless, uncaring or unkind - actually we are probably all of those things more than you think. It's just that some of us ain't that good at reading those signs. And before anyone says it, that's not an excuse, and it should never be taken as one, but it is a reason.

So, if: You Think It. Say It. Be Polite.
