When I was looking for a syn admin to replace me, way back when, you were one of the people who I considered but dismissed
Thanks! Seriously, it feels good to know that perhaps if I'd have more time to put in, I could maybe have made it to the top. At the time, I hadn't put as much thought in about how much work it could involve, even in a small cat like embedding or syn. I think now, it's likely I'd end up turning it down if it did get offered it because I just don't have that kind of time to commit.
There just isn't really anywhere for a long-term, experienced, non-admin supporthelp to go.
Yes! That's exactly the problem. You stop getting feedback because you don't need more training and there's not really anything to focus on. GUNK has started to address that a bit with getting people more involved in training, I suppose and I have been kind of drawn to that but I rarely do reviews and there's always plently of people around who'd probably do a better job there than me.
Some of the stuff you do in syn is fantastic, I know
Thanks again! Syn is fun, I have to say - I hadn't done any for a while and then I got a real kick out of those two strange requests I did the other day. I think you're right that clients would potentially appeal to my techie side, like web did, so I might redirect my learning efforts there (particularly as comms never seems short of volunteers).
The other thing you might want to try is to pick a project and throw yourself at it.
Hmmmm. I like this idea. I'll have to have a bit of a think about what projects I might like to do though.
