Alex starts his new job today. In my office. He's gone to a meeting now but I am already feeling pleased that I resisted the temptation to go and chat to him and find out how he was getting on while he was settling into his new desk :)

How exciting. We are working together now, as you may have gathered, and worked together for years and years before.

In the last job, before the days of Instant Messaging or email (well, there was email obviously, but not, paradoxically, in a UK subsidiary of the largest american phone company) so we used to pass each other post-it notes. I think we still have them somewhere :-)

Is it possible? I've only seen Alex in three forms ... rushing past madly by cycle, or cooly step-walking towards something/-one of interest, or laying prone in fatigued contentment.
