February 4th, 2013 03:46 pmSo, over half term I'm organising an Avengers marathon instead of a birthday party and this has, of course, led to discussion about what order we should watch the films in. We'll be splitting over two days and trying to eat appropriate foods and drinks throughout. I thought it would be fun to do a poll, although in practice, we'll probably pick due to catering reasons :)
The options are...
1) The chronological cut (reviewed here). This is all the films intercut into roughly chronological order.
Pros: Actually in order. Hugely geeky. Reveals interesting connections between films
Cons: Destroys narrative consistency. Insane.
2) Release order (Iron Man, Hulk, Iron Man 2/Thor, Captain America, Avengers)
Pros: As this is the cinema intended order, probably most narratively consistent. V Stark heavy day 1.
Cons: V. Stark light day 2. Unimaginative.
3) Release order modified (Iron Man, Hulk, Thor/Iron Man 2, Captain America, Avengers)
Pros: Mostly narratively consistent. Spreads good movies out.
Cons: Slightly random.
4) Roughly in-universe chronological (Captain America, Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2/Hulk, Thor, Captain America)
Pros: Interesting to see how films lead into each other in this way? Stark heavy day 1.
Cons: Several movies heavily overlap so difficult to decide. Stark light day 2.
5) Alternative in-universe chronological (Captain America, Iron Man 1, Hulk/Iron Man 2, Thor, Avengers)
Pros: Spreads good movies out.
Cons: Slightly random.
