New Years non resolutions
December 31st, 2002 12:00 pmLast year, I did make resolutions. I think the only one I didn't mention in that post was "Get a new job" although I'm pretty sure that I was already planning to leave at that time. And I did pretty damn well with them.
- Finish MCSE - check
- Get cats - check. Well one cat anyway. And she's lovely.
- Get NTL - sort of. This turned out to not actually be physically possible in my house (boo!) but I have got Sky so that I can watch a million music channels. This does mean that I don't have broadband, but I don't tend to use the internet at home that much (chicken and egg?)
- Lose weight - a little. Almost no progress for most of the year, but in the last month I did manage to lose 1/2 a stone and only put back on 2lb over Christmas, which is not bad considering.
- New job - check
The thing is, last year there were a lot of things in my life I wanted to change. I'm a list making person, so I probably would have made that list even if I hadn't had the excuse of New Years resolutions. This year is different though. I'm settled. I don't actually want to change things in my life particularly. So, instead of making resolutions to change things I thought I'd write down a list of things I still hope to have in some form when I get to 31/12/2003
- My job - I still can't quite believe my luck in ending up with this job. Next year we'll be finishing off and actually going live with SPOCC, which is pretty exciting, before starting work on version 2. Hopefully I'll continue to pick up and polish my VB skills. Maybe as SPOCC calms down I'll have an opportunity to work on a project with a different language - perhaps one of the ones I trained in and am now forgetting.
- My house - I love my house - it's pretty, it's open and fairly light, it's quiet, it's got a garden. So I hope my landlord doesn't suddenly decide to sell it, or at least, not until I can afford it!
- Alex - I can't believe we're still as in love as we were when we started, but we seem to be. It's all still great and I really hope that it stays that way for another year.
