It seems traditional (in Oxford at least) to refer to our parents' home as "home, in real life".
It's an offshoot of the college lifestyle, I guess...

e.g.
"Where do you live?"
"Magdalen, Wolfson Quad, Staircase 3, Room 17."
"No - I meant in *real* life."
"Oh... er, Leeds."
