tinyjo: (webdesigner - chez geek)
New website design - mostly working, but needs a few things sorted.

1) Can people running versions of IE earlier than 6 have a look at http://www.tinyjo.net/journal/ and tell me whether they can see the journal entries on the left hand side.

2) How do I run a cgi script within an asp page? The exec statements in the gallery just sit there without doing anything :(

3) How can I pass a variable from the location bar ( http://www.tinyjo.net/journal/friends/?filter=4 ) to the cgi script in the page?

4) Logo. I need some kind of banner to go across the top of the pages, saying tinyjo.net and then a strap line. But I can't decide on a strap line, or a font so I've decided to be lazy...

[Poll #55484]

Also, the archives are broken for the moment because it was late and I forgot to upload 2 pages - soz!

I'm only sure that it works in Mozilla 1 (though it seems to be working OK in IE6 this morning) so can people running other browsers take a gander for me? Ta.

Doesn't work on IE5, the journal entries are below the boxes. I like the design once that's ironed out though!

Which is better than last night when they didn't appear at all! I think that one was some kind of refreshing bug though. Further fiddling is called for.

I had to refresh before I saw anything at all, I was viewing your most recent entry but the design was the same. 'What new design' I thought at first, 'that's a bit subtle!'. :}

I can't seem to see any journal entries in the box at all (running IE 5.1 for Mac at home). Will try it at work too.

Oh no, I guess it was the same thing as [livejournal.com profile] zoo_music_girl said -- the entries were below the box.

IE 6.0.2600.0000

The bottom right box (What's this?) intersects the main journal box such that the text is partially covered by the right hand side of the main journal border.

At work -- IE 5.50 PC -- the left-hand box is at the bottom of the screen, but all the text is in it. When loading the page, you see the right-hand boxes first, then scroll down, and at the bottom of the right-hand boxen you see the main text box.

I see the same as [livejournal.com profile] jinty (and others) in IE6 WinXP. Netscape 4.79 just shows the text, no boxes. It's quite readable. If I'd seen your message at work, I could have tried it on my PC there, where I've been collecting browsers for years.
Yeah - I think the best you can hope for with an old browser like NS4 is that it doesn't actually crash while viewing and will actually display all the relevant parts. I'm surprised by the winxp/ie6 though as that's what I'm using at work and it seems to work for me... What's your screen resolution?
