Good minou

Now that I've finally had my credit card bill and got back to my computer again I have been able to do something that I've been meaning to do for a while - I've paid for this account :) I actually probably won't use most of the extra features for paid users but I just think that I use it so much and get so much pleasure out of it, especially when I'm bored at work that I want to support it.

I have decided to get on with all the things I have been putting off "til next year" - I've done LJ so this is what I have got left

Finish MCSE. I'm nearly there with this - I only need to do 2 more exams now. I'm hoping to have this done by the end of the month.

Get cats. As soon as I've finished this entry I'm ringing up the Cats Protection League to start the adoption process :)

Get NTL. As soon as I've done the above I'll be surfing over to the NTL website to decide what exactly I want.

Lose weight. I know I can do this - I just have to train myself to maintain my willpower through stressful situations cos that's when I put it all back on. Actually, also when drunk (witness my crisp demolition at [livejournal.com profile] cleanskies Saturday night) So, from now on, I'm on a diet. Stop me from eating crisps in the pub, OK.

My other good thing that I'm doing today is of course my fast. Not going too badly so far although I am starting to get a bit peckish. Alex has promised to try to pick up some kind of frozen pizza to take to the party to break my fast with as I doubt even Cowley Road will have takeouts still open at midnight on NYE.

And finally, the rest of Christmas - I did mean to make entries on my palm but utterly forgot so you'll have to have it in one big chunk.

I see that my last post was Sunday before I found out that Alex was actually going to make it that evening! When he said "Sunday evening or Monday" I had assumed that would mean Monday evening cynic that I am so it was a pleasant surprise to have a whole extra evening of hugs. We sat around chatting in front of the fire and then went to bed. Mmmmm.

Christmas eve followed at a leisurely pace. We sat around in front of the fire and read. I actually don't remember if we did anything else at all - we might easily not have done! I find that I can't remember what we had for dinner which I find vaguely disturbing for some reason as I usually do remember Dads cooking. I'll have to ask Alex if he remembers.

And then, of course, the day itself. Forced Alex to get up for 9:30 to go through and do stockings - hurrah! After that and dressing it was time for tree pressies. I got a saute pan and some proper scales from my parents - yay :) - also a nice dressing gown/house coat which I have been wearing a lot. Alex got me Chez Geek 3 (yay), Shania Twain's album and a lovely new tarot deck that I'd been mooning over in Gameskeeper before Christmas. Steve got me a memory module for my palm - now I can have even more books than before :) Pretty cool eh. All in all, a lovely lot. Everyone else seemed pretty pleased with their pressies - Dad was looking out of the window with the bins before you know it, Mum was exploring the handbag, Alex was teaching Cuddly Cuthulu to read the Onion book (well not quite but he was very pleased with both of them - I think he loves Cuddly Cuthulu more than me!) and Steve dragged his computer into the living room and wired it up to the TV so that we could watch the BlackAdder DVDs I'd bought him. Decadent Xmas lunch followed and then more lazing followed by Xmas log for tea. I love Christmas :)

Spent the next couple of days just sitting around drinking wine with cheese for lunch and having dippy things in the evening and so on. All very lovely really and just what I needed after the last couple of months. Decided to travel back together on the 27th but I decided to skip visiting Alex's folks for the moment as it all sounded a bit hectic and I was still feeling lazy so I toddled back to Oxford. House not been broken into which is good but a bit cold - I turned the heating off before I left. Just pottered around the next day, going to Tescos, sorting out my magic cards, watching Buffy and so on - very restful. Went over to [livejournal.com profile] cleanskies to play Chez Geek and drink wine Saturday night - a great laugh and she gave me Whittards special Earl Grey - yay :) By the way, special in this context does not mean gin laced - it means large leaf with blossoms and lovely sheer linen tea bags.

Yesterday, more lazing and Buffy followed by hugs from the returned Alex - poor love - he looked worn out. And now I'm back at work. Boo hiss. Ah well, at least I have holiday days again :)
