St Hildas to admit men. I'm not sure how I feel about this actually. I did come away from the college feeling that an all-womens college did have a part to play as part of an overall mixed university. I certainly knew some people for whom the idea was the safety net which allowed their families to feel comfortable about letting them go to a university. In practice it wasn't very restrictive at all (plus fun during firedrills :D) and there was a really good atmosphere in the college. I hope that at least won't change.

That said, it was inevitable, and as the number of women entering higher education creeps up past fifty percent with no sign of stopping there(don't know what the %s are for Oxford though), it's really difficult to argue coherently for a single-sex college.
