Cravings

Does anyone else ever experience strange non-specific snack food cravings. I really fancy something but I don't know what - only that it's not any of the things in the machine or indeed anything else I can think of off hand. Somewhere out there is my perfect snack food and that's what I want.

Note: I have been good and not settled for anything inferior the way I often do :)

I always suspect that this is mostly just boredom, and what you really crave is a break from staring at a screen. I certainly found that when I worked just down the corridor from the snack machine I used to get really strong cravings. However, whether I went and got some chocolate, couldn't be arsed, had run out of money, or the machine had run out of chocolate, the craving always passed within about 10 minutes. Concluding from this that my body was giving me shit, I now almost always manage to stave off these feelings. In fact, in this job I've deliberately not found out where the vending machine is in the building, to protect myself. The vending machine does 'Options' hot chocolate, though, which gives me:
- an excuse to get up.
- an activity (poking the lumps with the bottom of a pen until they dissolve or (more commonly) sink to form a sludge at the bottom of the cup.
- a feeling that I've had something sweet.
- 15 calories only.

Trust me, apathy and 'Options' are helping me to maintain my sylph (OK, goblin)-like figure.

You always seem pretty sylph-like to me :) Maybe you're right - what I want is a distraction. I wonder if cup of tea and book on visor counts as break from screen?
