I found this map surprising. I guess because these days, India & China are supposed to be the industrialising countries so I would have expected sanitation to be better there than in Africa but I guess it's just the richer folks who are getting the benefits.

Actually, in a perverse sense - a lot of that industrialisation is responsible for worsening water quality (though it was never all that great).

China: I heard a notional figure of a new coal power station is built every day - and none of those clean filters and waste internment management practices either, no sirree.

Consider this in general, and these specifically.
