Online DVD services

So now that I'm not going to be in the city centre, it won't be so easy to go for a film every week. Instead, I'm thinking about one of those subscription service type things. So, your opinions, oh friends list...

I think it depends what you're looking for ... most often, I prefer the retail experience and the accidental discovery purchase.

My household used ScreenSelect when I was living in London and they were great. Huge catalogue, there was hardly anything we couldn't find (and our tastes were pretty obscure), and I think we had two or three dodgy DVDs out of the many dozens we got through. I'm thinking I might sign up again at my new address.

I tried them (ScreenSelect) out because they were the only one that had a film I was looking for. They were excellent as long as they were free (!), but I don't watch enough DVDs to make the monthly fee worthwhile.

I also really liked DVDoptions because you could rent individual DVDs cheaply - you didn't have to join and pay a monthly fee (maybe others now do this too). Their web site seems to be down now, so maybe they don't exist any more.

Both services were really convenient - the DVD arrived in the post and included a stamped envelope for returning them.

Flatmate has been using Screenselect for a couple of years. No problem, selection is good, etc

The Mrs signed up for the Amazon service during the week. Will probably end up blogging about it if it's particularly good or crap.

I don't know if Netflix is availble in the UK, probably not. But it's what I use.

I had a look at their website because a few people have mentioned them but I think they are US only.
