New boots

I had an Imelda Marcos moment in Faith the other day. I went in to buy sensible black shoes in the sale and I did, but when I was paying, I also spotted a pair of gorgeous boots on the wall. Well, I thought, I'll just try them on - they won't fit over my calf anyway. But they did, so I had to buy them. It's so rare that I fall in love with shoes which actually fit me.

Anyway. I find that I want to wear them all the time because they're so comfortable, but I don't want to waste them when you can hardly see them peeping out of jeans. So, a poll. Run my life for me LJ.

If you're going to wear them all the time, then buy a second pair. Otherwise, stick with just the one. :)

I ticked wear them all the time on the grounds that if they're comfy you should be able to wear them whenever you feel like and not just when you can show them off. However, it's not recommended you wear any footwear all the time - it'd better for your feet if you wear a variety of different shoes/boots.

how can you even ask? Plus, you have the best excuse to lift up the cuffs of your trousers and show off your boots to people!

I wouldn't worry too much about them wearing out - I have a really nice pair of black boots I got in a sale in Faith a couple of years ago, which have worn very well, but I do think they look a bit dated now and I suspect you'll find the same with yours.

Yes, I thought that when I saw the style: they're nice, but by the time they wear out (given that you'll be able to re-heel and re-sole them, so they should take a long while to wear out)
a) you'll want a new style because things will have moved on, and
b) you'll prolly be paid more

I think boots look great with jeans, even if you can't see all of them. Also, I'm of the opinion that when you're wearing things that make you feel confident, you'll always look great. :-)

If you've got an easy-to-find size, wait for the sales. If not (and you can afford it), you'd probably be best off to grab another pair now. A comfy, good-looking pair of shoes is very worth it.

You could always get another pair and dye them (probably black would be the easiest option as you'd have to go darker; darker brown would be kind of pointless and purple/dark blue could be disastrous). This would also address Greengolux's hygiene point. However it is a fairly risky approach to a 70 quid pair of boots, and you might have to apply paint to the heels/sole edges.

Would love dearly to be able to find boots in shops. I have huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge mega-calves though, so it's just impossible...
Agree with you about the colour thing - I'd get them if they were in multiple colours.

1. Only wear them when they're visible and wear them all the time - invest in some shorter trousers and/or more skirts. Think outside the shoebox!

You may already have noticed this, but I walked past Faith just now and noticed that those boots are now half price, so if you were still thinking of getting a second pair you might want to have a look and see it they have your size...
