I've noticed that the only time I'll ever send error reports to Microsoft is when one of their own products has crashed. I'm perfectly happy to help them improve their software, but not to potentially give them information about other peoples. Odd. (There will be actual content at some point today, I promise).

I'm exactly the same. In the rare moments that Firefox does crash I'd rather not let Microsoft know, even if I know that a Microsoft product was to blame.

Remember the old Microsoft saying 'the job's not done until Netscape won't run'.
It is fairly easy to change one's own applications to change where it offers to send the mini-dump. I think that some people feel it counter-productive since it may raise unrealistic expectations that something will be done about them :-)
