News

Does anyone know of any good free news readers that can handle binaries?

I swear by XNews, personally.

Tends to suck up memory resources like an absolute beast if you leave it running for more than about four hours, but it's pretty much a no-brainer when it comes to binaries. Highlight articles, hit space bar to queue them, choose where you want them saved, done.

Lovely stuff, and so much less bloated than Agent can be with binaries. Also handles yEnc.

I use Binary News Reaper. Couldn't get on with XNews personally. BNR is not too great for non-binaries though, not really useful for reading news.

I've always had good luck with Free Agent. It won't deal with some stuff (MIME encoded) but it deals wonderfully with UUEncoded stuff. A large portion of my image collection has been stolen from FreeAgent over the years, and support for binaries has always worked great for me.
