According to the Guardian, I should be higher paid for my IQ (I got a quotient of 10 in the end)! If only they knew :)

It's a small world...

I went to Boots to buy some new hair things to use with my new, longer (although not really long enough yet) hair and as I got in the queue I thought "I'm sure I know that guy in front of me". I took a hard look and suddenly realised that it was Robert Sowerby in a beard! Robert was the other person who got A's in my A level english classes although we had very different styles. He used to do loads of research and write reams and reams for each essay with quotes and examples and stuff (much more like a university essay in some ways) whereas I used to mainly try and answer the question on my own as much as possible. On a related note, I appear pathologically incapable of writing essays more than 6 sides long - even at uni. Anyway, I said hi and he remembered me and we had a bit of a chat while we waited. Apparently he's working at Lloyds. It was really nice in a slightly surreal way.

All alone...

Had a slightly odd journey to work this morning. Had left the house a couple of minutes later than normal so was slightly worried that I'd missed my bus. It was all frosty and very silent as I hurried along. I got to the main road and there was hardly any traffic at all. There's not normally much at 6:30 but this was a noticeable drop. Then I got to the bus stop and I was the only one there. This is practically unheard of - there's 4 or 5 people who regularly catch that bus and I'm normally about 3rd there. But there continued to be no-one there and no traffic. I wondered if I'd missed the bus but I would have seen it go by the top of the road unless it had left pretty early. I was right - I hadn't. Just before it turned up another woman (not a regular) arrived but that was it. And then we actually got into London at 8am - pretty impressive going. Unfortunately, the streak was not continued on the Central line, but even that wasn't as bad as normal.
