Anniversary

So, today I am 2. According to Bill this makes me one of the earliest bloggers. On the other hand, my LJ account number is 328393. You couldn't even really say that I got in before blogs started to get big, although I did manage to get onto LiveJournal before invite codes were needed. This time last year I was so busy doing a redesign of my website that I didn't even notice I'd been here a year until the 27th. In 2001 I was getting ready to move to Oxford while still working at DrKW and experimenting with this new-fangled diary stuff.

I blogged every day from June 1997 to June 1998. Long crafted posts every single day. I was totally drained by the experience and utterly glad to give it up. Hence my very first post in LJ (http://soulsong.livejournal.com/2001/06/09/). I've been surprised how keeping everything totally adhoc and low-brow has made the blogging experience totally sustainable. Okay, so it also helps that I no longer have to create and upload the new blog pages by hand. :)

Happy anniversary! I didn't know I'd had my LJ (slightly) longer than you, my second anniversary was a couple of weeks ago. How time flies!
