Job worries

Another one of the grads has been made redundant. Hmmm. Scary. This means that 1/3 of the grads who started in IT with me have now left - 3 redundancies and 1 resignation. I guess its just that the fact that 2 of those have been in the last two days is making me nervous. I need to get on with my revision for my MCSE I think.

Watched the 3rd series of Sapphire and Steel last night - very cool. Its a really amazing show - very confused and deep. There is almost no exposition - we have no real idea of why Sapphire and Steel are there or what exactly their mission and/or mandate is. They seem to be spending most of the series blundering around trying to work out what's going on and the whole thing is never really resolved - or at least the resolutions are extremely compromised and last minute. I should point out that I think this is a great strength of the show but its just so rare that it takes me by surprise every time I see it. The plot of this one was, I feel, extra surreal involving a mysterious time 'crystal' which turned out to be powered by animal pieces (don't even ask) and I loved it. Watch it all damn you!

Oooh! Where did you find Sapphire and Steel? Is it on cable or video?

One of my mates has got the whole thing on video (copied from a comercial release I think but I don't know whether thats still available) so the SF group in Oxford are watching the whole thing - one series a week every Monday. I can probably borrow the vids if you want to have a look.

The tapes are mine --- they were available commercially a while back, but were mostly bought by public libraries. I tracked down adventures 1-4 through searching the county's public libraries and pirating like a mad thing, but eventually had to buy adventures 5 and 6. Needless to say, apart from the commercial tapes, they're not the best quality ... but they weren't best quality to start off with. You might be able to find them second hand.
