According to readers of the Time Europe website, the nation which poses the greatest threat to peace in 2003 out of America, Iraq and North Korea is America. With over 80% of the vote.

No surprise

Iraq's military is a shambles, and poses even less threat to anyone than it did in 1990. True there's all this WMD concern, but even then they're fairly hobbled and MAD does apply.

North Korea - well, they're no small threat to be sure, they do have the world's 5th largest army...exceeding every force reserve in Europe combined...but they have precious little mobility. Anywhere they want to conquer, they'll mostly have to walk...and they haven't the logistical support (fuel, food) to go very far even if they do storm into Seoul.

The US, well, besides being the sole remaining superpower (dominant military force structures of every kind, with overwhelming logistics, etc.), they've spent the last decade deploying ever more forces to more fronts...effectively being in the face of well, everyone. Combine that with an utterly blind faith beyond dissent that using that force is justified, regardless of repercussions or 'fluff' ... well, sure, naturally they're the biggest global threat to peace.

Depressing, and I've already laid my 10 quid down on how things will turn out.
