Emptied of expectation. Relax. ([personal profile] tinyjo) wrote2002-05-31 02:48 pm

Now, I don't mind there being football all over the TV. I don't mind that many of my colleagues went down the pub to watch the whole game (although I wonder what the reaction would be if I did that for Wimbledon?) But I do mind that some of those who were left had video streaming with the sound on at their desks. Antisocial buggers.

I'm not at the office today but apparently they have had large plasma screens installed in the IT office on which to watch all the games. It's kind of expected that no-one will be doing much work.

Oh, I wasn't working :) Still, grrr. We're having the England games on the screens that normally show the news/stock quotes in the office I think which will be even worse :(

OUP lets people slack

The England match is going to be shown on a big screen in OUP and people are allowed either to watch it in house, or to go to the place of their choice to watch it (pub! pub!), or to take the time off if they're not bothered about football. Doesn't apply to the other matches though.

Now if I could take the time off instead, that wouldn't be too bad. Although I don't know where I'd go what with being in Central London. Perhaps next time I should adjourn to Starbucks with a book :)

I did wonder.
