Ocean's 11

Went to see this last night with Jez, Dez and Alex. It was all a bit rushed because the traffic was so utterly appalling coming home - there seems to be some problem on the motorway - so I only got 1/2 a tea really but I just about made it. And I'm glad I did. I found the whole thing really really enjoyable.

George Clooney's character was in some ways a bit like Doug Ross (his character on ER) - roguishly charming and boy does he know it. Brad Pitt was gorgeous in some very sharp suits, there was the most appalling Cockney accent since Dick Van Dyke (maybe they should have got James Masters to do it - his is quite good these days. Not sure how he would have suited the rest of the part though). There were some bits which really made me laugh and I found myself really wanting them to pull it off. The only thing I was vaguely disappointed about was that at the end, he got his wife back even though he'd been interfering and arrogant. I would have liked it much better if she'd left them both (she was going out with the owner of the casinos they were robbing). Overall though, I loved it and it had a great sound track. The other thing that I noticed was that apart from a flashback (to the most successful casino robber up until now) no-one got killed and hardly anyone got even hurt - George Clooney was supposed to be beaten up but that was part of the trick in the end - which I was really impressed by. See, it is possible to make a great action style film without blood. I guess it was probably because they stuck to the original plot but still, I was really quite pleased by that.
