Oh, yeah, I remember. [livejournal.com profile] angelicmoonfire (the schools volunteer looking for a welsh speaker), meet [livejournal.com profile] dyddgu (the welsh speaker) and vice versa. Play nice together :)

Hiiiiii!

K, so did Jo fill you in?

Kinda, but I also had Headache Of Doom last night, so I'm not 100% clear on it. Fwicr, checking up that Welsh-language-named schools really do exist; also, I assume, checking spelling &c?

Basically we need the schools to be in English.......unless the school genuinely only has a Welsh name. But since I don't acutally speak Welsh, and finding the schools official websites are proving difficult, I'm kinda at a loss as to what to do there.

If you do volunteer to do this (and it is completely volunteer) you'd only need to worry about Wales........so you'd only need to spend a few hours going through the Welsh schools and sorting them out. There really isn't that many schools there, so it wouldn't take you long at all. However, this could potentially be ongoing and you may be asked to actually approve any pending schools to the directory for Wales too. (This way you could fix them before they even get to the directory).

We may already have a volunteer so you may not be needed.......however the other volunteer doesn't speak that much Welsh......so a fluent Welsh speaker would be mighty handy.

What you'll need to do, if you're interested is send an email to lj_schools@livejournal.com. This will ensure that it goes straight to the admin who's overseeing the directory. Tell him your username, say that I referred you. Include that you'd only be working on Wales, and give him an idea of how much time you'd be able to spare. Also whether you'd only be interested in sorting out what's already on the directory as a one time thing, or whether you'd be willing to stick around and approve pending and keep Wales nicely scrubbed.

If you're definitely interested, I can let him know to expect an email from you......

Argh! sorry, this fell off my inbox and I completely forgot to reply. Do you still need a volunteer? I could probably put in an hour or two a week if necessary, I guess (working full-time and allegedly meant to be finishing my PhD also...) If you still want me to, I can probably email the adminny person this evening...

Yes please! I spoke to the admin, and he said that he did get a Welsh volunteer.......however, an extra pair of eyes is definitely a plus. So even just an hour or so every week is plenty enough!

Once you're all set up and such, if you have any questions, please do feel free to email me. :)
