What a difference 5 minutes makes. No bread left to make sandwiches this morning and so I'm out of the door early and the road is awash with cyclists. Tonnes of them. As they all peel off onto Longwall St I realise that it's all the scientists off to make 9am labs and lectures. At Cornmarket it's even more tricksey than usual - the pedestrians taking strength from numbers, less contained even than usual to their designated paths. It feels more different than it should for such a small margin.

There was *no* traffic (well some obviously!) on the road this morning (at the ungodly hour of 7.10 to 7.40!

Still, at least I can leave early to go to the early showing of Girl With a Pearl Earing at the new Kassam Cinema (http://www.ozonemultiplex.com/index.php?localpage=contact) :)

The world is made up of people who operate on total autopilot on weekdays, and everyone runs to a strict timetable. Five minutes either way, at morning rush hour, makes a huge difference; if I leave the house at five to eight, I can get straight onto the Wolvercote roundabout. Dead on eight, and I could be waiting there for five minutes (thereby compounding the fact that I'm already late for work.)
