I know why it is that I don't stick to my diet. It's because I don't want to. The question is, why don't I want to. I think I want to. And then when I'm thinking about food, or it's there, all I remember is that it's really nice and I like the way it tastes and I want to have some and I don't even think about my diet or anything until later. My mind is a mystery to me.

It's probably because you like *good* food too much, and when it comes down to it you probably aren't eating too much, and you aren't eating the wrong thing (unless you're eating pringles, in which case stop - pringles are bad bad bad, evil evil, bad bad and bad again...)

Just eat well and exercise well. I'm sure it'll come good in the end... :)

I have the same problem, and I do think most diets utterly fail to take into account the fact that some people love food. There's no way I could ever substitute low fat spread for butter, or reduced fat Cheddar for mature farmhouse, so I find the only possible thing to do is upping my exercise levels and being strict about portion control when I cook. I have realised in the last few weeks that I'm capable of eating at least twice as much pasta as I actually need to fill myself up, but if I don't cook it, I can't eat it.

you probably aren't eating too much
I'd be very surprised if that was true - you didn't see the size of the portion of chips I had! And often the problem is that I eat a proper meal and then go out and snack on things.

you aren't eating the wrong thing
Also not quite true - I do have pringles every now and then, although I rarely buy them for myself. I have quite a lot of takeout at the moment - say once a week, partly because I'm pretty busy or eating with friends some of the time.

I'm much better than I was - there was a time when I'd have a couple of packets of crisps every time I went to the pub - but there's still plenty of room for improvement :)
