Party girl

I find I can't quite believe that the whole holiday season is over. Next week, I have to go to work for 5 WHOLE DAYS in a row! How barbaric is that?

I'm still feeling really pleased that New Years went off so well. Between worrying about Cassie interacting with 2 sub 2 year olds (which I don't think she even did in the end), worrying that there wouldn't be enough glasses (there were, but only just), worrying that one of my nice ones would get broken and stuff spilled on the floor (not a drop - cheers guys), worrying that there wouldn't be enough food (1 tube of Pringles left) and worrying that there would be too many people (crowded, but not uncomfortably so), I was all prepared to sit there twitching with nervous energy from 7 when we finished dinner til 8:30 when people were due to arrive. Fortunately, Ian and Ruth had itchy feet and so they popped over early so we got started on the Pringles and talked DnD for an hour or so, meaning that by the time everyone else started arriving I was heading for pleasantly mellow. I don't remember a huge amount about the party itself except for forcing people to down their drinks before midnight so that they could have champagne, getting a chance to chat to [livejournal.com profile] eidolonarchie for a while, which was good as I don't get to see him very often, and managing to get a couple of snogs from [livejournal.com profile] cleanskies - always nice :) I also got to meet Nathaniel again- last seen suckling at last New Years, now mobile under his own steam - and Elanor, Pez and Jez's little girl. I have to say, she was pretty cute, and I got to have a go at holding her. You should have seen how broody Lyndsey was with her though! I ended up chucking the last few diehards into the rain at 4:00am on the grounds that I was knackered but everyone said what a great party it was, so I feel quietly chuffed about it. I ended up with more bottles than I started with including 4 bottles of champagne which wasn't really the plan - I've had to move my drinks to a bigger cupboard now damnit! - but still, a pretty good night. Maybe I'll even do it again some time.

Last night, we got a chance to use up a bit of that extra champagne when we all went over to see Ian and Ruth’s new flat. They only got the keys that afternoon and are getting the furniture this weekend (it's unfurnished) so this was our only chance to see it in all it's pristine glory. And it's pretty damn glorious. A bit further down the Iffley road than I used to live a couple of years ago, it's ideally located above a chip shop and a Threshers! All mod cons :) And it's HUGE!!! Big bathroom, big living room, study type room and medium sized kitchen downstairs and 2 reasonable sized bedrooms upstairs. All carpeted in inoffensive turquoise/blue stuff and not smelling of chips or anything. An absolute bargain - and, as you would expect, snapped up by the very first people to view it :) So we spralled on the floor in the living room with wine, champagne, Pringles and celebrations to play zombies, chez geek and chrononauts. Definitely space for many more parties there :)
