Census meme

March 2011: Working as a teacher, living with Alex, staying with A&T while hugely expensive extension is done to the house, missing Cassie and Charlie. Running Guides and Brownies. Learning Taekwondo. Err. What have I forgotten?

March 2001: Working for DrKW, living in London with Becks in Docklands. Bussing to Oxford to socialize. Long distance with Alex (sad-face). I think it's about then that I went to Pittsburg, actually. Might have been April. Pre LJ.

March 1991: Year 6 at primary school. Bespectecaled, musical and bookwormish. Going riding every week. Just started Guides. Not really close friends with anyone and genuinely didn't care, which confused all the adults around me.

March 1981: Brother born! Yay! (That was why I wanted to do this meme really - happy birthday, Steve!)

comments

World Book Day meme

Books I am currently reading:

The Truth, by Terry Pratchett. I know, but there are lots of Pratchetts just lying around here and it's making me want to read them again :) I still maintain that Pratchett is the Dickens of the late 20th/early 21st century.

Books I love most:

Time Travellers Wife. It's just beautiful in every way.

The last book I received as a gift:

There Are Cats In This Book. It was a present from Alex for Valentines day, and it's awful cute!

The last book I gave as a gift:

Err. I know I bought some for Christmas for people but I'm blanking on what, mostly because I tend to choose them from their wish lists rather than picking something I've liked to give them, tastes being as different as they are.

The nearest book on my desk:

Hmm. Well I'm not at my desk right now, I'm on the sofa. I guess the nearest book to me is Madhur Jaffrey's Step By Step Cookery, which was just the right size to rest my plate on while I was eating (I know, I'm a classy dame). On my desk at school it would be the Lives of Christopher Chant, which I'm reading to my class.

Last book I bought for myself:

Err. Probably a book for school. Timely Tasks for Fast Finishers, I think. I'm planning not to buy any until we are back in the house again. Oh, wait, no. E-book edition of Molesworth, that was it.

comments
