So, in the spirit of the new DW/LJ plan, I thought I'd post a little summary of 2014, given that I posted all of (goes and checks...) 11 posts this year. Of these, 4 were essay writing procrastination, one was report writing procrastination and 3 were variations on the "how do I use my journal these days" theme.

( so what else went on )

comments

Well, that's the methodology section written! Am actually over half way done now, which is a relief and I have a reasonably good idea of when I am going to get the rest done (i.e. while visiting my folks next week).

I went into school yesterday to make a start on my classroom and, of course, that turned out to be the day the cleaner wanted to wash my walls and do my polishing. Sigh. Still, I did get some stuff done. I think I'm going to swing by again today to pick up one or two things I forgot yesterday before I get properly stuck into classroom organisation tomorrow.

3458 / 6000 (57.63%)

comments

Woohoo! Literature review actually complete! I feel like that was the hard part as well because I hadn't done much of the reading beforehand, so while I knew which papers I needed to refer to for the most part, I had to do quite a bit of skimming and scanning to find what I actually wanted. And although I'm still suspicious of a lot of coaching texts, which are written with a very "consultant trying to sell you something" air, I did actually find some genuinely interesting and reflective stuff out there (a lot of which was saying "it's very difficult to pin down what does work actually" which rather chimes with my own prejudices :))

2348 / 6000 (39.13%)

comments

Ugh. Sluggish progress. I couldn't face the next section of the literature review so decided to finish up the introduction. Still, have scraped past the 20% mark so feel justified in doing something else for a bit!

1201 / 6000 (20.02%)

comments

Well, I have written some essay, which is good. Not a huge chunk of essay, but not bad for a morning's worth of work. I'm undecided as to whether to push on with the Lit Review section, which is a bit of a slog, or to go on to have a poke at the methodology section. Or, you know, to write some of the medium term plans I need to do this holiday. Sigh. Still, at the very least this justifies a break for lunch :)

893 / 6000 (14.88%)

comments
